St Edmundsbury Borough Council fails to use full powers to help tackle homelessness

The system clearly is not workingShocking figures have revealed that St Edmundsbury Borough Council has failed to use its full powers to help bring empty homes back into use.

Helen Korfanty and the Lib Dems have pressed for this information to be released. It shows that over 250 homes in St Edmundsbury are currently standing empty and unused. A third of these have been vacant for at least two years and some are still empty after 10 years.

"At a time when homelessness is on the rise it is a scandal that our Council is failing to make use of the full powers it has in order to bring homes back into use," said Lib Dem local election candidate Helen Korfanty.
