Justice system failing

Reopen village lock ups?
Will we have to reopen village lock ups?

With the government planning mass releases of prisoners to reduce overcrowding in prisons they are highlighting the complete failure of the system to rehabilitate and retrain prisoners before their release. It is a shocking reality that more people come out of prison with a drug problem than go into prison with a drug problem. Is this what we pay our taxes for?

Yes people should be punished when they commit crimes, but unless we keep things in perspective there will be no room in prison for voilent criminals for all the pensioners refusing to pay their Council Tax!

If people come out of prison with a drug habit then the system is foisting a problem on ordinary people who have done no wrong, we need to address this.

When people are released they have been punished, and that is that. We should now be focussing on ensuring they do not return to crime and ensure they have the skills to work, the chance to start again, and have hope in a new future.

If they don't we are just throwing good money after bad.
