Parliamentary Candidate chairs Open Forum on Israel and Palestine
At a meeting at the United Reform Church in Bury St Edmunds called by the United Nations Association David Chappell chaired a meeting attended by residents of the area.
Lord Phillips of Sudbury was the first speaker taking if his experiences when visiting Israel and Palestine and of the work being done there by various individuals and bodies. His speech was followed by that of Mark Rusling, the Campaigns and Education Officer of the United Nations Association. Mark spoke of the work being done by the United Nations in the area. Then Barbara Mayhew is involved with Suffolk Inter-Faith Resource and has made several visits to the region in efforts to produce a wider understanding of people's problems.
Several members of the audience participated in a vigorous debate covering a wide range of issues and concerns.
The meeting was concluded by a talk and video presentation by Deborah McKinley, a prominent member of the United Nations Association on the work being done in Israel at the Bahai Gardens of Haifa
