When I was running for election in 2023, I promised you that I would sort out the path between Exning Primary School and Princes Close to make it accessible all year round for people with prams, disabilities or just those who didn't want muddy/wet feet! I am very happy to say that this Christmas, 1 ½ years after I was first elected as a District Councillor, residents in Exning will be able to walk to school on a new footpath!
This is a problem that has been almost existential for the village and I'm really happy to show residents that when I campaign on something, I deliver.
Last year I was successful in getting Suffolk County Council to resurface the section of path between the school and Stepping Stones pre-school. After a year of negotiation, the county council granted permission for the remainder to be resurfaced but did not have the budget to complete the work. I am incredibly thankful for Persimmon Homes and Tamdown Group for stepping in to make sure this went ahead.
I hope this will encourage more families and children to walk to school and around our amazing village!
